Can you imagine life without internet now? Why?
The only way I could truly feel ‘lonely’ now is if the internet stops working! It’s like stating the obvious! The moment WiFi stops working, I literally feel like I m getting choked from within. Internet is the new synonym for oxygen; we breathe, walk, talk internet. Life gets so awfully black n white without cyberspace; even a 70’s movie would seem more colorful, as compared to life minus internet. Internet has become the food for our souls! Jon Stewart once put it, the Internet today “is just a world passing around notes in a classroom.”
If it were a world without internet, life would be just like life before 1990 — a time of landline telephones, 9-to-5 work schedules and rarely few self-employees and businessmen, and such a life is clearly unthinkable.
For e-commerce business, the ‘MAD’ (Marketing, Advertising, Distribution) of products and services is made online as it results into instant gratification.
Without internet , the very term ‘instant gratification ‘ would be written off. (Ola, Uber are some instant gratification companies).
We do not have enough patience left at this age to lead such a slow life. The anticipation of waiting for things is largely gone.
We are now used to same-day-online-deliveries (quick delivery by amazon which I came to know yesterday from my shopaholic roommate) or finding immediate solution to any dumb or freaky question that is bothering us.
We all are aware of the plentiful joys of social networking sites: produces more durable offline relationships; allows ourselves to be fully present and vulnerable without thinking much, it makes u
feel limitless; it might draw us apart from irritating friends in the neighborhood and may drive us closer to those in neighboring continents.
The era of SMS is over and WhatsApp is the new star. Goodbye to internet is goodbye to Whatsapp, facebook, Instagram, twitter, tinder and Goodbye to our new self-proclaimed life!
With the e-commerce and social networking sites, the world has come close to us, just a click away.
Newspapers provide us with the detailed stories with a morning cup of tea, whereas, for the tech- savvy generation, e-papers serve the purpose as they can be accessed from anywhere and anytime.
The world of impulse, clarity, accessibility, immediacy would shatter into pieces if internet collapsed forever.
From business point of view, ‘if your business is not on the internet, then your business will be out of business’ as quoted by Bill Gates.
The new source of power is not money in the hands of a few but information in the hands of many.
The loss of jobs that relate to Internet Business would be hard to digest.
No internet is equivalent to no civilization !
Our belief system, lifestyle, modes of communication, and how we treat one another—would collapse under the stress of having to revert to an era that too many digital natives are clueless about!
Coming back to my senses from the daunting train of thoughts (of internet being non-existent), I now realize that internet is next to God for me!
